The learning opportunities provided by the highly skilled and dedicated staff here value the unique passions and gifts of every child and ensure they receive a contemporary education with the skills needed for an ever changing world.
We encourage our students to adopt a growth mindset, to believe in themselves and set goals for personal improvement, empowering them to take responsibility for their own learning and development.
At St Patrick’s, we work in partnership with parents, as the first educators of their children and with the teachers and the parish community, develop the faith of our children and assist them in achieving their full potential.
I encourage you to explore our website to discover the exciting opportunities offered at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Sutherland.
Mr. Phillip Tax
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Sutherland is a primary school that caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1924 with 26 enrolments and entrusted to the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1950. In 1954, the sisters began the Secondary school on the same site until Mary Immaculate College construction began in 1959.
The Charism of Nano Nagle has been revived in the school with the formation of the Nano Rangers, the instigation of a Charism leader and the beautiful Lady of the Lantern Mosaic. Parents and students participate in a variety of social justice initiatives as a practical way to live out Nano Nagle’s Motto ‘Not words but deeds’ as they continue Jesus’ evangelising mission of love, justice and peace.
In fulfilment of our vision, we as a Catholic community aspire to foster:
- A commitment to the Catholic faith, Charism of the presentation sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary and our school motto through prayer, liturgy, sacraments and action.
- Excellence in education that is relevant, purposeful and engaging, inspiring each student to achieve their personal best.
- Healthy life choices and skills such as resilience, problem solving and perseverance.
- Responsiveness to Catholic Social Teaching, demonstrating active concern, care and responsibility for themselves, others and the environment, expressed through engagement with Catholic Charities, outreach programs and wellbeing initiatives.
At St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Sutherland we are committed to being a school which is welcoming and inclusive. We collaboratively foster and live our school motto to Nourish, Nurture and Grow in Christ through a holistic education. Our actions continue Jesus’ evangelising mission of love, justice and peace enlivened by the Charism of the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Our school has a strong connection with our Parish, St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sutherland. Situated next door to each other we are geographically connected but the connection is much deeper than this.
Our Sacraments are parish based, which means they are run by a Parish Sacramental Coordinator and supported by the Principal, Leadership Team, Staff and Family & Faith Educator. We have Grade, Family, Parish and Whole School Masses which are held in the Church and presided over by our Priest. Our students receive Reconciliation frequently and participate in Parish Retreat Days.
Parents, carers and grandparents are always extended warm invitations to Masses and parish events. Our Priest leads many school liturgies, visits classrooms, leads prayer and faith development experiences for the staff.
