History
our history

St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Sutherland is a primary school that caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1924 with 26 enrolments and entrusted to the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1950. In 1954, the sisters began the Secondary school on the same site until Mary Immaculate College construction began in 1959.Β

Charism

The Charism of Nano Nagle has been revived in the school with the formation of the Nano Rangers, the instigation of a Charism leader and the beautiful Lady of the Lantern Mosaic. Parents and students participate in a variety of social justice initiatives as a practical way to live out Nano Nagle’s Motto β€˜Not words but deeds’ as they continue Jesus’ evangelising mission of love, justice and peace.

  • Healthy life choices and skills such as resilience, problem solving and perseverance.Β
  • Responsiveness to Catholic Social Teaching, demonstrating active concern, care and responsibility for themselves, others and the environment, expressed through engagement with Catholic Charities, outreach programs and wellbeing initiatives.

Vision Statement

At St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Sutherland we are committed to being a school which is welcoming and inclusive. We collaboratively foster and live our school motto to Nourish, Nurture and Grow in Christ through a holistic education. Our actions continue Jesus’ evangelising mission of love, justice and peace enlivened by the Charism of the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

our history

Our school has a strong connection with our Parish, St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sutherland. Situated next door to each other we are geographically connected but the connection is much deeper than this.Β

Our Sacraments are parish based, which means they are run by a Parish Sacramental Coordinator and supported by the Principal, Leadership Team, Staff and Family & Faith Educator. We have Grade, Family, Parish and Whole School Masses which are held in the Church and presided over by our Priest. Our students receive Reconciliation frequently and participate in Parish Retreat Days.

Parents, carers and grandparents are always extended warm invitations to Masses and parish events. Our Priest leads many school liturgies, visits classrooms, leads prayer and faith development experiences for the staff.
